Anything important happening or messages for athletes

Advice on preventing injuries - jump into the Tweed as soon as you feel any twinges. This technique was kindly modelled by 3 of our athletes last week. See the last 2 pics in the gallery for the evidence.

RESULTS FROM TWEEDBANK GAMES

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Our first pro games winner of the season is Ryan who won the 200m youths at Tweedbank. He led from start to finish in his heat and the final and held his form all the way. Great running! Please start to practise answering questions from the press in more than one word.

We actually had another winner too as Faye won the long jump with 5m 34 - only one cm off her PB. James also had a great PB of 4m 79 which is a new club record.

Stuart had his best run of the season and only narrowly missed making it to the final of the 200m youths.

It was the usual story in the 100m youths with our athletes knocked out one by one despite some great runs. Jessica had a good outing - and seemed to be up amongst the leaders for most of the way. Caillie was fantastic for 60m but her lack of sprint training set in after that - as did Sam's in the open 100m. Linda had her best run of her season and lost out on a heat win over the favourite on a photo finish. She was a little annoyed to be mistaken for a bib-girl by one of her competitors who tried to give her his bib rather than shake hands. Shows what men think of women who run.....
Johnny is getting closer to a heat win - looking more in contention each week. Shame there are not 100 weeks in the season.

Isla and Sophie crept in quietly but blasted their way around the track in what seemed to be very good runs although they were out of the placings.

NOW FOR THE REAL STUFF - Jackie did a grand job organising the community service for delinquent men. Gregor thought he was in charge but that was all part of Jackie's skill in motivation. By the way - photos of all of these strange happenings are at the end of the gallery.

DETAILS OF THE DVD CHALLENGE. Task number one - THE WIN - has already been acomplished. As has task number two - DOING A FALSE START BUT NOT GETTING PULLED - so no need to try the last one again - but we could do with a few more task number one achievements.
We need volunteers for remaining tasks: 3) the overlong handshake; 4) the very odd clothes; 5) the fall; 6) "Moorfoot Juniors" into the microphone; 7) the punch up; 8) THE STREAK - although so far we have nominated Ryan for this; 9) the kiss - Linda would like to volunteer for this - someone has to. Any more ideas to the Moorfoot Juniors DVD challenge team.

SOME MORE GREAT NEWS FOR MOORFOOT JUNIORS
Faye has been called up to represent Scottish Schools in an international on 19 July. She is competing in the U-17 long jump although she is just 14. Well done Faye!

BURNTISLAND
Linda, Gregor and Faye have entered Burntisland on Monday 21 July - Don Campbell is taking entries. We have never been to this before but think that a funfair comes into the picture but also a long walk from the car park to the event. We have also entered AMBLESIDE - this was a mudbath last year but great fun so long as you keep away from the hounds. Entries close really soon - phone Ernie to get yours in NOW!

HAWICK ENTRIES NOW CLOSED - TWEEDBANK IS STILL OPEN FOR 13 JULY.
If you want to be rolling in money in July you should enter the Hawick Youth Games on Saturday 5th July and the Tweedbank Highland Games on Sunday 13th July. Both of these are new events for this year and Hawick in particular is offering great prize money. Entries for both are to Adam Crawford at 7 St Ronan's Court, Glenrothes, KY6 2LQ. Entry fee for each youth event is £2. Need to send a stamped addressed envelope for your entry ticket too. Hawick has 90m, 200m and 400m for 10 - 12 year olds and for 13 - 15 year olds. Also it has an 800m for 10 - 15 year olds. Tweedbank has 90m, 200m and 800m for youths. There will be pipe bands and highland dancing at this too.
